Facilitating Health and Recovery
Youth with substance use issues are at a higher risk for mental health problems, including depression, behavioral issues, and suicide. The Lincoln Families Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) program provides short-term intensive therapy to families and youth struggling with substance use and mental health challenges through a variety of therapeutic and behavioral supports designed for:

• Adolescents: Providing individual therapy to improve self-awareness and confidence, set goals, build communication and social skills, and reduce substance use and problem behaviors.
• Parents: Assisting parents to regain influence over their adolescent.
• Families: Coaching and modeling to improve family problem-solving and increase feelings of love and connection.
• Communities: Improving access to community systems such as school and probation for decreasing barriers to treatment.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Community-Based Services Program Director, the Program Manager for the Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) program will provide overall program leadership, direction, budget oversight, and accountability for quality and fidelity of MDFT services in Alameda County. The duties of the Program Manager will include acting as the liaison to County Mental Health, Probation, and other referring partners. The Program Manager will also provide leadership, operational, and communications support during the closing of the MDFT Contra Costa Program (expected by 6/30/2026).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for recruitment, supervision and evaluation of Family Advocates.
• Provide supervision required to obtain/maintain MDFT Supervisor certification.
• Collaborate with Clinical Manager to monitor supervisee compliance with MDFT model as well as agency and program management policies and procedures.
• Provide staff support and oversight in collaboration with Clinical Manager.
• Ensure staff compliance with all internal and external reporting and documentation requirements, including MDFT Portal and assessment/outcome measures.
• Monitor and support staff documentation for quality, productivity and timeliness.
• Monitor program finances in relationship to established guidelines, procedures and policies.
• Facilitate onboarding and training of MDFT-Alameda staff.
• In collaboration with Clinical Manager, develop systems and processes to maintain and monitor continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities for program, clinical and case management functions.
• Support Clinical Manager in conducting external and internal UR for chart compliance, quality and appropriateness of clinical and case management services.
• Participate and directly observe program, clinical and case management delivery of services through regular and frequent interfacing with program staff, which may include providing live supervision.
• Collaborate with outside providers, direct service staff and other Lincoln agency staff to ensure seamless integration of MDFT with other agency programs and service providers.
• Collaborate with County Mental Health, Probation, and any other referring parties to sustain flow of referrals for MDFT services.
• Execute the Contra Costa program’s soft close plan in partnership with MDFT leadership team.
• Represent Agency in public and assigned forums.
• Participate in MDFT crisis/on-call process.
• Requires driving to various locations across Alameda and Contra Costa counties to conduct meetings, transport clients, etc. (Program Manager must have valid CA driver license, personal automobile insurance and satisfactory driving record.)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A positive, services-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is organized to handle often competing priorities. Demonstrated knowledge of provider systems, MDFT treatment and how to provide excellent services to families. Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability for complex problem-solving, planning, and conflict resolution. Must be accurate, detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to hold clinical needs of the treatment team. Can work independently, but also asks for help when needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• M.S.W., M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in a relevant field from an accredited graduate school preferred
• Current license in good standing with BBS or BOP preferred
• 3 years of community-based direct service experience and/or supervisory and program management experience
• Experience with Medi-Cal documentation requirements
• Certified MDFT clinician/eligible to be certified as MDFT Supervisor
• Must meet eligibility requirements to bill for Medi-Cal services
