The Lincoln Families West Oakland Mandela Family Resource Center (MFRC) is a community hub where children, youth, and families receive individualized and responsive services and supports. It is a place for community members to gather, lift up empowerment efforts, and act to power improvements in family and neighborhood life. Our staff work together to ensure the delivery of programs and services that reflect the needs of the community and impact root causes of poverty and trauma. Services include:

West Oakland has a rich history, and has seen changes in cultural and economic conditions that have taken a toll on its residents. In spite of these changes, West Oakland has enormous assets in its longstanding resident families, small businesses, and service providers. As some neighborhoods become affected by gentrification, others maintain a sense of protectiveness in an effort to fight the forces of housing instability and homelessness. West Oakland residents are strong advocates and leaders in equity, have influential political connections, and demonstrate a unique tenacity. POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Mandela FRC Program Supervisor, the Case Manager/Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for providing flexible, wraparound case management community navigation and resource and referral services to residents within continuity of care context, including advocacy for services within the community, social services system, educational and health system of services. This is an essential position that creates linkages for clients; particularly West Oakland residents residing in BRIDGE Housing properties.

Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organization skills. Must be reliable, personable, and able to maintain professional boundaries. Can work independently and is also comfortable working and collaborating in small teams. Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to, and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population. Skill and/or desire to facilitate workshops and groups. Knowledge of community resources, skills working with community-based and public agencies, and proven problem-solving skills. Demonstrated competence and commitment working with children and families. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
